Faculty Needed to Participate in the Early Adoption of a New Reading List Tool Within SakaiContributed by Jenna Linskens on 05/10/18 The Ithaca College Library and Teaching and Learning with Technology (IT) are pleased to bring a new tool to enhance instruction. The Ithaca College Library and Teaching and Learning with Technology (IT) have partnered to implement Ex Libris Leganto, a new reading list/e-reserves tool that integrates with the Sakai learning environment. We are seeking faculty early adopters who would like to be part of an early release of Leganto during the Fall 2018 semester. Faculty who currently use e-reserves are highly encouraged to try using Leganto, as well as any faculty member who would like to utilize reading lists that give the instructor and student options to enhance teaching and learning. Ex Libris Leganto is a tool that enables the instructor to easily create, maintain, evaluate, and share course resource lists. With Leganto, you can assemble materials of all types—physical books, online or digitized book chapters, scholarly articles, videos, newspaper articles, websites, and any other type of material—to create a structured, comprehensive resource list. You can build a resource list by yourself or collaborate with others, such as colleagues or librarians. Students can access all course materials in one place and from any device. To learn more about Leganto click the link: http://www.exlibrisgroup.com/products/leganto-course-resource-list-management/ The benefits of using Leganto include: * Integration with Sakai * Mobile friendly, intuitive interface * Collaborative reading lists * Automatic identification of resources that the library owns or subscribes to, which supports copyright compliance * Interface for students to share feedback and suggest items to instructors * Integration with reference managers such as Zotero and Mendeley * Analytics and reports provide an overview of the materials students use and their usage patterns * Integration of digital reading lists and reserves with physical books and materials owned by the library in one list. We are excited to bring this tool to Ithaca College to enhance teaching and learning. Any faculty interested in participating in the early release should contact Bernard Hogben (bhogben@ithaca.edu) in the library. |
