In an attempt with staying current with the changing classroom technology, AV Services is ending support for old analog transparency overhead projectors in support of the new digital document cameras. Document cameras provide the ability to place any paper, book, or object under the camera, located on the instructor podium, which projects the image to the LCD projector or display.

Document cameras are part of our standard classroom AV technology upgrades, which we currently have installed in 70 classrooms. Please let us know if you currently use transparency overhead projectors, as we will connect you with a support representative to assist you with transitioning your current material from analog to digital and provide training on the usage of the new document cameras. AV Services will also work with you to assure there is a document camera located in the appropriate classrooms.

The proposed timeline for complete removal is as follows:

  • Fall Semester 2018 – Notice of removal, feedback, and requests for digital document cameras in spaces currently not yet installed. Training on document camera functionality and transferring existing transparency material to digital content, via the Instructional Media Lab (IML), 102 Job Hall. Requests for transparency overhead projectors can be accomplish by contacting AV Services, 4-1443.
  • Winter Break / Spring Semester 2019 – Removal of all transparency overhead projectors. Continue training on how to best use digital document cameras.

Please reach out to AV Services, 4-1443, for any questions and concerns surrounding any classroom technology. Please visit the IML, 102 Job Hall for any training or assistance required in making the switch away from transparency overhead projectors to the new digital document cameras.
