Residency by French Ensemble C Barré at Ithaca CollegeContributed by Evis Sammoutis on 08/27/19 From Thursday to Saturday (29-31 August), a subsection of the French Ensemble C Barré will be in residence at Ithaca College, giving workshops and masterclasses, recording student composers’ works and performing a concert on Saturday, 31 August at 7pm in the Hockett Recital Hall. The ensemble is based in Marseille and Paris, France. In Ithaca, they will present an eclectic program for mandolin, guitar and harp giving several U.S. premieres of new works by Mikel Urquiza, Hans Werner Henze, Birke Bertelsmeier, Frédéric Pattar and Ithaca College Assistant Professor in Music Composition, Evis Sammoutis. The ensemble's visit is made possible thanks to a French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) New Music Fund Grant, with additional support provided by the Special Events and Guest Artists (SEGA) Series at Ithaca College.
