PSYC 235 | ICC Sustainable Futures | Social Science Perspective

**Override requests for PSYC 103 prereq. will be accepted.

 

  • Explore how to change values, attitudes and behaviors at the individual-level and within larger groups and cultures.
  • Become mindful, systems thinkers about environmental and social problems and their solutions.
  • Communicate effectively about environmental issues and sustainable behavior. 
  • Connect with the natural world in your community, benefitting your psychological and physical well-being.
  • Contemplate the myriad ways sustainability is a social-justice concern.

Class will consist of:

  • Asynchronous lectures, to fit your summer schedule
  • Once-weekly zoom discussions, optional but highly recommended (Time TBD)
  • Office hour meetings with instructor via ZOOM
  • Shared student-annotated readings
  • Weekly Blogs
  • Open-book quizzes
  • Films
  • A final proposal to make your local community more sustainable
