Patricia Zimmermann, professor of Screen Studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, delivered two invited lectures at New York University at Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) in the United Arab Emirates, November 2-4, 2014.

Her lecture, “Open Space Transmedia:  Towards a Theory and Politics of Participatory Collaboration” explored international iterative new media projects designed on principles of participation, collaboration, and open archives. This lecture analyzes new media projects showcased in the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival.

Olympic gold medalist Meghan Musnicki has been selected to deliver the main address at Ithaca College’s 2015 Commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 17. A member of the U.S. national rowing team for the past five years, she earned the gold in the women’s eight event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

 Applications are now being accepted for the Linden Award for Learning Portfolio Excellence. This award is open to seniors who best demonstrate through their learning portfolios what they have learned in their college experience and what connections they draw among different elements of their Ithaca College education, presented in a form that effectively communicates to an external audience.

This award recognizes electronic portfolios that tell the student’s story, creating a platform for future iterations as learning continues through life. Portfolios will exemplify integrative thinking, critical and analytical problem solving and reflective learning outcomes, as created by students who have sought guidance and mentoring from Ithaca College alumni. This award has been made possible by the generosity of Jay and Judith Linden. For the 2014-15 competition, three finalists will receive a cash prize, with $3,000 for the best portfolio and $1,500 for each of the two runners-up.
