 Take a relaxation break with a chair massage! 

The Center for Health Promotion has partnered with A Massage Station of Ithaca to bring chair massages to IC students every month.

The September date is:

NOON - 5PM

Cost: $1 per minute (pre-paid via PayPal or credit card )

Sign up for 10, 20 or 30 minutes of massage through Massage Station's Sign Up Genius. It's easy!!

Phoebe Constantinou, associate professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, recently published an article entitled, "Promoting Healthy Competition Using Modified Rules and Sports from Other Cultures" in the peer-reviewed journal, Strategies, Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, (volume 27, number 4, pages 29-33).

The article looks at the original meaning of competition and how it has evolved to the present day. Constantinou considers ideas for modifying rules and implementing activities from other cultures, which can intensify the benefits of competition while reducing the potential negative effects. 

The 13th annual Cross Cultural Leadership Retreat (CCLR) for Ithaca College students will be held on October 31 to November 2, 2014. This two and a half day retreat presents the opportunity to explore various aspects of diversity and their relationship to leadership. During the retreat, the entire group will participate in a series of educational sessions and discuss issues as a large group. There will also be an opportunity to connect in smaller, informal groups.

The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs congratulates Mary Holland as she takes on an exciting new role as a Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Activities at Syracuse University. Mary has served as the Student Organization Business Specialist for over two years, working with hundreds of student organizations to manage their finances and travel. She brought a fun spirit to her role and created a supportive learning environment for students, and she will be missed! You can say goodbye to Mary at a celebration on her last day: Friday, September 26 from 4:00-5:00pm in the Student Activities Center.

Patricia Zimmermann, professor of screen studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, published a book chapter in Transmedia Frictions: The Digital, the Arts, and the Humanities, edited by Marsha Kinder and Tara McPherson (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2014).

Her essay is entitled “Transnational/National Digital Imaginaries,” an examination of artists working in new media interfaces that engage a double movement of historical modalities and future imaginaries to map the transnational. The essay was coauthored with John Hess, coeditor of the journal Jump Cut. ​
