(fill out this one minute survey!)Contributed by Rob Gearhart on 05/08/14 Ithaca College is exploring the development of a system where you could earn “digital badges” for completing non-credit programs outside of your degree-seeking curriculum in areas that would be considered “personal or professional development”. Topics might include: personal finance, personal wellness and/or nutrition, leadership, media & technology, software, sustainability, civic engagement and much more. Badges could be incorporated into your ePortfolios or other badge systems. Help us by taking this ONE MINUTE SURVEY. Results will be used to guide a more in-depth analysis in the Fall. The main IC website, as well as myHome, myIthaca, and HomerConnect will all be unavailable during the downtime. While the normal IC website content will not be available, people who attempt to access www.ithaca.edu will be re-directed to a temporary web page that will provide direct links to the following major services:
All other Web services will be unavailable. We'll make every effort to have the work completed by 8:00 AM, but if complications arise the downtime may extend to as late as 9:00 AM. Note that myHome is set as the default browser Web page on many campus computers, and will display a "page not found" message during the downtime. The book is an oral history of the Chileans who came to Ithaca following the U.S.-supported military coup of September, 1973. Bridget worked on this project during her year-long internship with CUSLAR. Terazawa's fictional narrative is based on the true experience of her undergraduate Fieldwork in Gerontology course at Longview, a senior retirement community with which Ithaca College has had a 15-year partnership.

(170 words) Elizabeth Bergman, Aging Studies, Presents Research on Hospice Bereavement ServicesContributed by Paula Davis on 05/07/14 Bereavement services are an important part of end-of-life care with potential to ameliorate distress among bereaved caregivers. However, little is known about individuals' preferences regarding structure, content, and delivery of services. Elizabeth Bergman, assistant professor of aging studies, recently presented "Exploring Bereavement Service Use Preferences and Motivations" at the 36th annual meeting of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC), held April 23-26, 2014, in Baltimore. She presented survey outcomes from 60 bereaved hospice caregivers. Professor Bergman conducted the research in collaboration with Marna Metcalf, MA, a grief counselor with Hospice of Central New York.
