Latino artist Cruz Ortiz will give a free public presentation at Ithaca College as part of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) Discussion Series, in collaboration with the Handwerker Gallery.

On Tuesday, April 8, Ortiz will present “Hecho Farm” at 7 p.m. in the gallery. The title refers to Ortiz’s exhibits that turn an art space into a working “farm,” fleshed out with utilitarian sculptures, drawings, collages, hand-pulled screen-printed posters and multimedia works.

Ortiz, who lives and works in San Antonio, uses print, performance and film to address issues related to his experiences growing up in the bicultural landscape of South Texas.

The Work/Life Mission Series presents our Eating On Campus Tour Two! At this Eating on Campus Tour, we will start at Towers Dining Hall where we will explore options such as Asian Cuisine, In the Bag to-go meals, and the Fresh Food Market’s organic, local, and natural foods. Guest speaker Dr. Bhavani Arabandi, assistant professor from the department of sociology, will give a talk on gender roles and globalization.

IC Kicks Back Needs You!

Calling all volunteers for this year’s IC Kicks Back! We need a grand total of 30 volunteers to help with various jobs throughout the afternoon. Some jobs include:

-Maintaining lines for the inflatables and photo booths

-Checking IDs

-Taking photos of the event

A FREE IC Kicks Back T-shirt will be included!

The Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winning crime and comedic drama follows con artist Irving Rosenfeld and his partner Sydney Prosser into the world of the Jersey mafia. Rosenfeld and Prosser work with FBI agent Richie DiMasso to expose corrupt politicians in the area.

From Thursday April 10 to Sunday April 13, the Student Activities Board presents this FREE critically acclaimed film! All showings begin at 8:00 pm sharp in Textor 102. Bring your friends and don’t miss out on a high-stakes, all-star film for FREE!

The Center for Health Promotion will be sponsoring FREE Anonymous HIV Testing for IC students on Friday, April 11, 2014

Make an anonymous appointment by calling 607-274-3136 to ensure that you can be tested! Testing slots are limited! 

Here are the details:

10:00 a.m. - Noon: Testing by appointment only. To make an appointment, call the Office of Counseling & Wellness at (607) 274-3136. Appointments are anonymous, so you have the option to use a pseudonym (alias).

12:30 - 2:30 pm: Limited Walk-in Slots are Available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Center for Health Promotion Resource Room will be the sign-up location for walk-ins. Sign ups start at noon.
