A message from the Board of Trustees chair and the president.

Dear Campus Community,

On February 12 and 13, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees gathered in Los Angeles for its winter meetings. Periodically, the board plans one of its three scheduled annual meetings off campus in an effort to provide trustees with an expanded scope of opportunities that contribute to their understanding of the college and the IC experience.

Last week’s meetings delivered many such moments for the board, including a conversation with Bob Iger ’73 and a tour of ICLA, as well as informative and engaging discussions with members of the senior leadership team around the strategic plan implementation, our campus climate, capital planning and the budget for the coming fiscal year, and enrollment and marketing strategy.

Ithaca College faculty and staff members, along with their families, are invited to attend the men’s and women’s basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 and 4 p.m. inside Ben Light Gymnasium for Faculty/Staff and Family Fun Day. Ithaca, who will play Bard College, will also be honoring their seniors prior to the start of each game.

Congratulations to the current and former members of the faculty who have been recognized by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. At its February meetings, the board granted emeritus status to nine former faculty members and awarded promotions and tenure to 20 current faculty members.

Members of the Research Support Action Group, working under the "Employer of Choice" goal of the Ithaca Forever strategic plan, will be holding focus groups in February.  Our action group’s objective is to "Increase support for faculty research, collaboration, and innovation."  In terms of "research," we are including scholarship, research, and creative inquiry (SRCI).

The first Pop-Up Pub of the semester will will happen in the Klingenstein Lounge in the Campus Center on Thursday, February 20.

Bring your friends and colleagues and make new connections from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

An array of specialty beverages, local wines and beers will be available for purchase, as well as soda and infused waters.

Guests over the age of 21 will be required to provide ID to purchase alcoholic beverages. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

 Dan Breen, Associate Professor of English, contributed a chapter to the recently published essay collection The Handbook of Renaissance English Literature, edited by Ingo Berensmeyer.  Breen's essay considers the poet John Skelton and his early allegorical poem "The Bowge of Court."
