Staff Council, in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources, would like to remind benefit-eligible staff to review Paid Time Away (PTA) balances in Parnassus Employee Self-Service. Reviewing balances now will allow ample time to plan the use of vacation before new annual grants are applied on June 1st. To see balances, go to Parnassus:

Rebecca Plante, associate professor of sociology, was invited by Colgate University (earlier in February) to give a talk on 'hooking up,' sex, and dating. It was the kick off event for their 'Yes Means Yes!' Positive Sexuality education series; about 125 students and faculty attended. She also consulted with staff and students at Colgate about campus sexual climate.

Imprint Magazine is hosting a creative writing contest for students at ANY college or university, regardless of location, with a CASH PRIZE for first and second place winners.

There are five categories for this contest: photography, poetry, non-fiction, fiction and screenplays.

Whether your internship is paid or unpaid, there are additional financial costs to consider such as cost of living in the city where your internship will be (e.g. rent, utilities, etc.), transportation to and from your internship site, food costs, extra money for recreation, and paying Ithaca College tuition if your internship is credit-bearing. Even if your internship includes a small stipend, it is likely you will need to look for additional resources to cover these added expenses.
