A film by Cathy Lee Crane, associate professor in the Department of Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts, was selected for the International Panorama at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema of Montreal.

Her film, Pasolini's Last Words (2012), combines staged and archival material in an elegiac essay, which considers Pier Paolo Pasolini's brutal murder in 1975 alongside of the texts he published or left unfinished during his last year. This experimental biography documents the final words of one of the most important filmmakers of the 20th century.

The festival runs October 10-21 and will feature two screenings of Crane's film. Ithaca College alumni Amanda Setton has a role in the film.

ICTV's Newswatch 16 and Freshmen are both finalists for National Student Production Awards sponsored by College Broadcasters, Inc. Newswatch is a finalist for "Best TV Newscast" and Freshmen is a finalist for "Best TV Comedy." The award winners will be announced at the CBI Atlanta convention October 25-27.

Newswatch is ICTV’s flagship show and is Tompkins County’s only local news program. Watch it live on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. Freshmen is a comedy that follows Harvey, a junior, as he is forced to recount his first year of college to incoming freshman.

Heating of Campus Buildings

Contributed by Lori Ray on 10/04/12

Submitted on behalf of Zach Newswanger, Director of Maintenance and Richard Couture, Associate Vice President, Office of Facilities

The change of seasons means we're getting into the need to provide heat in all buildings across campus.  As is typical with this time of year as well as springtime, we can see a wide change in outside air temperature - one day it might be 70 degrees, then go down to the upper 40's and back up to the mid 60's in a couple of days.

The Office of Facilities receives a number of calls with requests to "turn on" or "turn off" the heat based on the daily variance in outside temperature.  We thought it might be helpful to explain how the buildings are heated and cooled so that the campus community has a better understanding of what is involved.

Ithaca College associate professor of television and radio Peter Johanns produced the program for FSTV. It features powerful speeches by co-winners Sharif Abdel Kouddous (who was honored for his reporting from the uprising in Egypt's Tahrir Square for Democracy Now!) and the Center for Media and Democracy (represented by executive director Lisa Graves, who has been all over the news in the last year after exposing the American Legislative Exchange Council's corporate-state partnership). The Izzy Awards were held on campus in April.
