If you like water in any way, shape or form, here is a class for you. You can do it any time of the day online from anywhere with a high-speed internet connection. Enter the world of this essential element as we explore questions such as: What is your water footprint? Why is water considered 'Blue Gold'? Why is water important in many religious rituals? We will use perspectives from the arts, humanities and sciences, with a focus on the global politics of water and sustainability and its media representations. Internet readings, videos, podcasts, guest lecturers and discussions link students with national and international experts.

This course fulfills Liberal Arts Humanities and Social Science requirements. It also meets H & S Gen. Ed. Requirements for Self & Society + Global Perspectives.

The Co-Presidents of IC’s Environmental Society, Jeremy Betterley (ENVS ’13) and Margaret Keating (ENVS ’12), were among students from across the state who gathered recently in Albany to deliver a message to Governor Cuomo on hydrofracking in New York State. The rally comes as the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) continues to review public comments on the hotly debated issue.

As of Tuesday, May 15th, email messages sent through the Ithaca College email system will have a new, smaller limit of 25 MB per total individual message size (which includes the text and any attachments). This change is in preparation for our June 2012 move to Microsoft Live@edu, which also has a 25 MB message size limit that is common for many widely-used email services.

Since 2002, Jeffery Meyer has been the Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Russia one of St. Petersburg’s most innovative and progressive ensembles.  He is also the Director of Orchestras at Ithaca College School of Music.

The Troika International Festival 2012, organized and executed by Meyer and sponsored by the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic, is the first of its kind in St. Petersburg.  The event is presenting a four day collaborative journey with three of the world’s cultural tours de force, and bringing together musicians and composers from China, the United States and Russia.

The Office of Admission at Ithaca College announced two important policy changes today that will impact applicants for the fall 2013 entering class. Collectively, these policies will provide high school students with greater options when applying to Ithaca College. At the same time, the changes will help the College broaden its applicant pool and better organize the application review process.
