Rebecca Lesses, associate professor in Jewish Studies, has just published an article in The Jewish Annotated New Testament (edited by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Brettler, and published by Oxford University Press). Her article is entitled "Divine Beings." This is the first edition of the New Testament to be commented upon entirely by Jewish scholars of biblical studies.

The showing is from January 9 through February 19, 2012, after which the exhibition will travel through 2013.

San Antonio – The women’s soccer team (15-4-3) ended its season in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship Tournament Friday, losing 2-0 to eighth-ranked Wheaton (Ill.). The Bombers wrapped up their sixth trip to the “final four”.

Our next Blood Drive is Wednesday December 7th from 8:30 to 4:00 pm in Emerson Suites. Please call 1-800-Red Cross to set up an appointment. You can also stop by the sign up table in Campus Center Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 2 pm.

 

The result from the Cortaca Blood Drive Challenge is Ithaca College Won!!

Oct. 4 was as follows:  193 Donors Present, with 33 Deferrals, Total Units collected 182, 143 Whole Blood units, 39 Double Red, With 78 First Time Donors Congratulations to you all. 546 lives were helped saved the first day.

Oct  5th was as Follows; 189 Donors Present, with 41 Deferrals, Total units collected 175,132 Whole Blood donations, 43 Double Reds, With 79 First time donors, Thank you for being so brave!!! 525 lives were helped saved the second day.

For a Total of 1071 lives helped with our Awesome Blood Drive, Thank You to all that came out and rolled up your selves and donated for the cause.

Thank you to all that showed up, and help us hit our 200 people thru the doors both days and increase our drive by 50 units over last years drive!!!!!

Do you want to relax more? Mindfulness meditation can help reduce stress! You are welcome to drop in for this weekly group whether you’re a beginner or a person experienced with meditation.

The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to host a salon moderated by Katie Marks, assistant professor from the Department of Writing, taking place on Tuesday, December 6, at 4.00 p.m.  Following a presentation on her research, Marks will moderate a relevant discussion on the significance of satirical humor used in contemporary media.  After the salon, interested participants will be allowed to inspect and handle mid-19th century editions of Harper's Weekly from the Handwerker Gallery permanent collection.

Journalist Jose Antonio Vargas — who recently “outed” himself as an undocumented immigrant to the U.S. — will give a free public lecture at Ithaca College on Monday, Dec. 5.
