The final session of the New Student Employee Program for the fall semester is Thursday, December 8 at 12:15 in the Peggy R Williams Center.  If you have student employees who will be working over the winter break, and they have not worked on campus before, please make sure they attend this final session in order to complete their I-9 and payroll tax forms.  Students may sign up by going to www.ithaca.edu/hr/studentemployment/ and clicking on "New Student Employee Program."

Environmental Studies & Sciences student Jeffrey Hatzel (’12) won the award for Superior Presentation in the Field of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology for his research project “Reintroducing American Chestnut (Castanea dentata): A comparative analysis of pure and hybrid varieties,” which he presented at the 125th Sigma Xi Annual Meeting and Research Conference in Raleigh, NC. His research was funded in part by the Commit-to-Change Fund, the H&S Dean’s Educational Grant Initiative and the Bernard Fund.

The Share the Warmth program is an annual community tradition of collecting gently used blankets, coats, sweaters, snow pants and other warm winter clothing.

Patricia Zimmermann, professor in the Department of Cinema, Photography and Media Arts and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, was an invited speaker at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Futures of Entertainment Summit, November 10-11, 2011.

Zimmermann spoke on the panel "The Futures of Nonfiction Storytelling." Her presentation advocated for a more international, permeable, collaborative, and mutating consideration of documentary across platforms and forms that are volatile and shifting.
