Due to the bank holiday on Friday, November 11, the biweekly pay day for the pay period October 24-November 6 will be on Thursday, November 10.  Because of this early pay day, all timecards must be submitted and approved by noon on Monday, November 7.  Please make sure that all hours worked for all assignments between October 24 and November 6 are recorded on the timecard for October 24-November 6.   Any timecards approved after Monday, November 7 will be processed in the next payroll.

At approximately 4:30 pm, following the November 12th matinee performance of "The Light in the Piazza," please join Park School of Communications Professor Holly Van Buren for a discussion on the portrayal of Italy as a place of love, romance, and fantasy in American film and popular culture. Professor Van Buren will be discussing portrayals of Italy from before World War II to the present day.

Frack Off is pleased to premiere the new documentary film All Fracked Up II: Water Isn't Water Anymore, with filmmakers Jeff and Jodi Andrysick, Park Hall Auditorium, Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:00 p.m. The screening will be followed by a Q&A/discussion with the filmmakers.

Jeff, a lifelong fisherman and hunter with a deep love for the land, and his wife, Jodi, who can drive a tractor with the best of them, have built several energy-efficient, off-grid homes and buildings, including those on their own farmstead on beautiful Keuka Lake. They never intended to become filmmakers, but when industry threatened to turn their beloved lake and region into an industrial wasteland, they decided to devote their resources to fighting the threat, and filmmaking seemed to be a good way to do this.

The School of Humanities and Sciences invites all members of the campus community to join our pre-doctoral diversity felllows for lunch, as they discuss their research and tell us about the classes that they are developing for Spring 2012.  This panel discussion will provide faculty members with an opportunity to meet our pre-doctoral fellows, and it will allow students to hear about their spring courses and to consider enrolling in them this spring.  Refreshments will be served.

What is the “Creative Economy”? Who are the members of the “Creative Class”? What do Paducah, KY, North Adams, MA and Houston, TX have in common? Are you interested in linking arts-associated activities with economic and community development objectives? This course uses an experiential learning design and combines readings of reports from the field, discussion of case studies and visits from practitioners in the field in order to unpack the “Creative Economy” concept.
