7th Art Corporation and the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival are pleased to announce an appearance by famed comedian and actor,  Harry Shearer, at Cinemapolis Theater, Ithaca, New York, Friday, September 23rd, 7 pm. Mr. Shearer will appear with his recent film, The Big Uneasy, which New York Times critic, Daniel Gold, has described as “an indispensable part of any history of New Orleans before, during and after Katrina.”

The Bridging Scholarship program will award 20 scholarships to American students participating in study abroad programs in Japan that begin in Spring 2012. Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study and attending any recognized exchange or independent program in Japan are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Recipients of Bridging Scholarships will receive stipends of $2,500 or $4,000, depending on the length of their study program in Japan.

Are you looking for a fun, low stress way to make music and give back to the community? Attend an informational meeting about the Intergenerational Choir on Tuesday, Sept. 6th from 7:00-7:45pm in Whalen 1207.  This will be a brief meeting to welcome new and old members, discuss plans for the year, and to make some music!  We look forward to seeing you there AND Snacks will be provided!!!!

The School of Music will host its first Convocation this Wednesday, September 7th at 10:00 AM in Ford Hall. This event will bring together all students, staff, and faculty in the School of Music.

This convocation will feature both Dr. Clifford Madsen, who will be delivering his address to the school via its new internet-based technology, and performances by two new performance faculty members, Aaron Tindall and Ivy Walz.

There are more LGBT characters on TV than ever before. The cover of Entertainment Weekly recently declared "How Glee is leading TVs gay-teen revolution." Is there a a revolution? If so, is everyone included? Come contribute to a discussion of what's going right, what's going wrong, who the characters are that you love to watch, and who would be the characters you want to see in the future?
