Caps & Gowns.

Senior and graduate student caps and gowns are available at the buyback window next to the Phillips Hall Post Office Wednesday May 18th through Saturday May 21st from 10am until 4pm.  They will also be available Sunday 5/22 beginning at 7:30am. 

You are invited to consider incorporating The New York Times into the courses that you teach at Ithaca College .  You are then eligible to receive your own complimentary subscription, which includes access to www.nytimes.com

Integrated Marketing Communications majors from the Park School’s Ad Lab class traveled to New York City this weekend to compete in the American Advertising Federation's (AAF) National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). The Park School won Saturday in District 2, and will travel to San Diego in June to compete for the national championship.

Each year, IMC students in this senior capstone course spend a semester researching and developing a campaign. This year's client is JCPenney and the goal is to increase shopping frequency and grow share of wallet among female customers ages 25-34 while staying within a $100 million budget.

Brad Collins ’11 will showcase his senior thesis film, Love Potions, at the Short Film Corner at Cannes this week.

Love Potions
is a romantic comedy about a fourth-grade boy who sneaks a harmless love potion into the lunch of a young witch.

The film’s crew was comprised of many Park students, and was completed in Professor Guido Santi’s Fall 2010 thesis class.

Personal Paid Time Away

This is a message to all benefit-eligible, exempt staff and administration.  At long last, the Office of Human Resources is very pleased to report that beginning June 1, 2011, exempt employees will be able to report personal paid time away using the on-line time card.   The on-line time card has been in use for a year now and, hopefully, the ability to report personal paid time away has become second nature.  However, documentation on how to use the on-line time card in Parnassus is available in the following location:

Class of 2011-Don't forget!

We have secured 450 senior class donors and met our donor goal of 411!!!!  Thanks to the seniors that have given to the 2011 Senior Class Gift Campaign.  If you haven’t given, there is still time because we haven’t met our dollar goals.   

Our next participation challenge is to exceed the Class of 2010! They secured 481 senior class donors, the highest number in IC’s history.

In June 2011, Kristina Jackson will participate in the Interdisciplinary Song Scholarship and Performance Program, which is a part of the Vancouver International Song Institute in Vancouver, BC. The program focuses on preparing singers and pianists to perform contemporary art songs that reach out to today's audiences, especially non-musicians. She will participate in masterclasses and musical coachings, while also working with musicologists, historians, and theorists on preparing historically-informed performances.

Please note: The last student driver class for this academic year will be offered on 5/18/2011.

Does your Department/Activity have students that need to drive Ithaca College owned or rented vehicles?  If so, the student is required to complete a driver safety class.  There is 1 class remaining for this academic year.  Classes will resume in September 2011.  

Wednesday, 5/18/2011 from 7pm to 9pm.  This class will be held in Textor 102.

As an experiential component of three Anthropology Department courses, students participated in the April 8-9th field trip in New York City visiting museums, healing centers and Anthropology alumni who now work at non-profit health care institutions and low income outreach initiatives.

Skott Freedman, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, recently presented a workshop to speech-language pathologists in the Ithaca City School District. The workshop was part of a professional development day for the district and covered new applications to treating speech sound disorders in children. Approximately 25 participants attended.
