Interested in recertifying your CPR/AED or Lifeguarding before the summer job opportunities?  There will be a recertification challenge from 2:00 - 8:00pm on Tuesday April 12th in the Hill Center pool. The cost is $55 for lifeguarding, $30 for CPR.

Professor Jeffrey Holmes of the Psychology Department participated in a session of the Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology in Atlanta on February 25.

He joined colleagues from several institutions to present a talk on developing an effective undergraduate teaching assistant program.  The presentation followed Professor Holmes’ recent work on a task force sponsored by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, a division of the American Psychological Association.

The City of Ithaca wants to remind students that on Thursday, March 31, the Department of Public Works will begin street cleaning operations in the South Hill area. Streets will be posted as "No Parking Zones" 24 hours in advance of the cleaning. Students who park on the street should watch for signs and check on their cars daily from March 31 - April 5.

A group of Ithaca College students known as (IC)^2 won first place in the Microsoft “We <3 Games” event in February. Little did they know their win would allow them to meet the President of Microsoft North America.

(IC)^2 members are part of the Ithaca College Game Developers Club and include Ashley Alicea, Corey Jeffers, Evan Marinaro, and Marc Howard.

Sponsored by Microsoft and RIT Interactive Games & Media, the "We <3 Games" game design and prototype competition was held at Rochester Institute of Technology in February. The challenge was to build a video game in 48 hours related to the theme "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems." The competition is similar to the annual Global Gam Jam. Fourteen teams from several schools, including Cornell and RIT, developed games for Windows, Xbox, Windows Phone 7, and the web.

Alicia Swords (Sociology), Patricia Rodriguez (Politics), and Jonathan Ablard (History), moderated papers at the "Youth, Identities, and Translational Flows" conference, March 3-4, 2011. The conference, which was sponsored by Ithaca College, Syracuse University, and Cornell University, brought together artists, activists, scholars, undergraduate and graduate students, and community members to discuss the a myriad of issues revolving around migration and the U.S.-Mexico border.

Summer College Resident Assistants work for the Summer College for High School Students under the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) at Ithaca College.

Several positions are available, needed from June 19 - July 23, 2011. On-campus housing and a meal plan are provided with these positions during the period of employment. RAs may apply for early arrival and extended stay if housing is needed beyond these dates. Resident assistants must be continuing Ithaca College students.
