Each year The Department of Education publishes a Partnership In Teaching booklet https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/depts/education/docs/PIT0910/.  The booklet is a registry of Ithaca College “partners,” and lists faculty as well as staff, and their areas of expertise in the form of presentations available to local schools.

The Ithaca College women’s crew has received an invitation to the NCAA Division III Rowing Championship, scheduled for Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif. Ithaca is the only school to qualify for every NCAA Division III Rowing Championship.

Thomas Eschen Jr., a junior journalism major, received the Park School Student Writing Award on April 30.

The Park Student Writing Award is given to a full-time student whose work is produced in a Park School class or student media organization, and demonstrates creativity, impact, originality and mastery. The award may be given for a research paper, a creative work (such as a screenplay or script), or a journalistic article.

Longtime School of Music professor Steven Mauk has been named as the school’s acting dean, effective June 1. Mauk will serve in that role while dean Greg Woodward serves as interim provost. Woodward was appointed following the announcement by Kathleen Rountree that she would be stepping down as provost.

Summer Hours 2010

The summer hours program will begin Friday, May 28, 2010, and continue through August 6, 2010. During this period, full-time employees will work two fewer hours (37-1/2 hours reduced to 35-1/2, 40 hours reduced to 38 hours) and receive their usual compensation.

The Ithaca women's tennis team (15-4) earned its fourth straight berth in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Empire 8 title during the fall season and Monday night found out its first-round opponent and regional venue for the event. Ithaca will face Wheaton (Mass.) in the first round of the tournament Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Williamstown, Mass.
