Join us at the IC Game Jam this weekend, Saturday Nov 7 to Sunday Nov 8, from 2PM to 2PM. We will stay up all night to try and make a video game in 24 hours! No experience is necessary!

The event is hosted by the IC Game Developers Club, and we will provide the food and drink to keep you going! Feel free to stay afterwords to play and rate everybody's games! We will also provide a Wii, XBOX360, and PS3 for our gaming enjoyment!

The Ithaca Brass will present a free concert on Monday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.  The program spans the musical centuries from Sweelinck to Ravel to Andre Previn and Victor Ewald.

37 trombones on 1 stage? What could be better?!

IC Trombone Troupe will be presenting its fall recital on Thursday, November 12 at 8:15pm, Ford Hall. A wide variety of music will be played, including a solo by guest Tim Smith. We have never had so many members before, so it is bound to be an exciting concert!

Three talented Ithaca College students were finalists in the 2009 Perialas Prize for Oratory. The event, sponsored by the Department of Speech Communication, awards a $500 prize to the top speaker.

This year's topic was "Health Care: Right or Privilege?" The winner was Lindsey Stafford (center in photo), a senior IMC major, who argued cogently that access to health care is every citizen's right. Also impressing the listeners were runners-up Joyti Jiandani (on left in photo), a sophomore speech-language pathology major, and Ryan Bigler, senior speech communication major.

The Park School of Communications and the Ithaca Motion Picture Project will be sponsoring a special Family Weekend screening of "All Together Now," a documentary film charting the creation of the LOVE show by Cirque du Soleil. Students, faculty, staff, family, and friends are welcome!

The show's producer, Martin Bolduc, will also be here to discuss the making of the film and answer questions from the audience.

Allison Girasole (Biology, '10) and Philip Feinberg (Biochemistry, '11) presented research done in collaboration with Jean Hardwick at the annual Society for Neuroscience conference in Chicago, IL in late October.  This is the preeminent gathering of neuroscientists from around the world. Attendance at these meetings is approximately 31,000 individuals.

• Allison presented a poster, "Modulation of neuronal responses in guinea pig intrinsic cardiac neurons with chronic heart disease:  Changes in sensitivity to norepinephrine, acetylcholine, and angiotensin II." in the main conference.” She received a travel award from the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience to support her attendance, as well as support from the Ithaca College Honors program.&

Nancy Cornwell, Professor and Chair, Department of Television-Radio has been selected as a 2010 Faculty Fellow by the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) Educational Foundation.  NATPE is a global non-profit organization dedicated to the creation, development and distribution of televised programming in all forms, across all mature and emerging media platforms. As part of the fellowship, Dr. Cornwell will attend the 2010 NATPE Market and Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  During that time, she will participate in a range of faculty sessions focused on television programming, distribution, advertising, audience measurement as well as emerging issues facing the television industry.

Due to the bank holiday on Wednesday, November 11, we must process the November 13th payroll on Monday November 9th.  Timecards for the weeks beginning October 26 and November 2 must be submitted and approved by 10 a.m. on Monday the 9th.
