An option for grouping multiple sections of the same course in Blackboard will be available starting Monday, August 17, 2009 at noon on the Blackboard Application page in the Homer system.  Instructors are strongly advised to review the Blackboard Section-Grouping Quick Guide to understand the pros and cons of grouping before selecting this option for their courses.

From August 18 to August 28, ITS will offer Blackboard Section-Grouping training sessions every business day in the Technology Learning Center (Friends 101). Instructors may register online for any of these sessions by choosing a date and time on the Blackboard Section-Grouping Training Schedule.

The Counseling Center regularly receives calls from faculty and staff regarding students who might be experiencing distress. In an effort to be more proactive in minimizing the potential negative outcome of students in distress, the enclosed statement was generated for faculty members to consider including on their syllabi; the statement might also be used to encourage classroom conversations about the stigma that keeps students from getting professional help.

Parking Lot Closing

The annual Saturday workshop from the Center for Faculty Excellence this year is on August 29 from 9:00 am through lunch. Cofacilitated by Susanne Morgan, Carol Henderson, and Annette Levine, it is open to all who teach at Ithaca College.

"Getting from Me to Them to Us" is an interactive experience including a focus on diversity, on using the online Teaching Goals Inventory and the book Classroom Assessment Techniques, and on the all-College Mentoring Program.

The Office of Cashiering Services will be moving from our temporary office in PRWC 204 to our permanent location, 328 Campus Center on Thursday, August 13.

Our office will be closing beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12 and will reopen on Monday, August 17 at 9:00 a.m.  Please keep in mind that we will be unavailable during this time period.

IC Community Picnic

Attention faculty, staff, and administration: again this year, we are pleased to continue our tradition of welcoming new students at the IC Community Picnic. The picnic will be held on Monday, August 24, on the academic quad, immediately following convocation (at approximately noon). In the event of rain, it will be held in the Terrace Dining Hall.
