This one-hour workshop was designed to help faculty serving on search committees better understand how unconscious bias might show up in the search process and what to do when it does. This workshop is meant to compliment that offered in the Inclusive Faculty Search trainings and will be co-facilitated by Belisa González, Director, CSCRE & Associate Professor, Sociology and Judith Pena-Shaff, Associate Professor, Psychology. Are you an LGBTQA+ person considering coming out, or wondering about how to support friends or colleagues? Is there a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, or asexual (LGBTQA+) person in your life? Or someone with another marginalized sexual orientation or gender identity? Do you work with LGBTQA+ students? Does your curriculum include topics about LGBTQA+ youth, adults, or families? National Coming Out Day is October 11. Many resources are available to you, both on and off campus, to assist you in supporting LGBTQA+ people during this time and throughout the year.

Please join us in recognizing National Coming Out Day. In celebration of this annual observance there will be a variety of speakers, events, and other learning opportunities throughout the month of October.
