On October 11th from 10AM to 3PM, IC SafeWater will have student members stationed around campus collecting cans and bottles, while others will go "dumpster diving" and to dorms, houses and apartments of students who have requested a pick-up of redeemable bottles and cans.

Scholar in residence John Confer directed a seminar on managing for biological stability in the Park Preservation System, a portion of the New York State Parks. The one-hour presentation was part of the 10th anniversary of the creation of Sterling Forest State Park, and was presented at the park on September 28.

The voter registration deadlines for most states are quickly approaching.

Pennsylvania's deadline is October 6, New York is October 10, New Jersey is October 14, and Massachusetts and Connecticut are October 15.

Wendy Herbener Mehne, professor of flute at the Ithaca College School of Music, will give a free flute recital on Sunday, October 5, at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.

She will be assisted by pianist Diane Birr and flutist Kelly Covert. Music of Clarke, Doppler, Bach, and Mower is on the program.

The Guarneri Quartet will open the yearlong Ithaca College Concerts season, "Ensembles Great and Small," with a stop on its farewell tour, Friday, October 3. The performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. The program will include string quartets by Bartok and Mozart, as well as Dvorak's "American" quartet.
