Bravo to Dining Services for phasing out petroleum-based plastics in its retail operations and integrating compostable serviceware into the Food Court and La Vincita in the Campus Center. Some of the packaged prepared-food products in the Smart Market (e.g. fruit and yogurt parfaits, and clear soda cups) have been made of compostable bioplastics for some time now, but now, in these areas, you'll only find compostable corn-based plastic cold cups and potato starch-based eating utensils, and biodegradable paper plates, napkins and hot cups.

Public Safety Alert

A resident of Ithaca College's Circle Apartments (Building 8) reported an amount of money taken from the resident's bedroom sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30. The resident reported the room door was locked at the time of the theft. There was no indication of forced entry.

Ithaca College's fifth annual Veterans Day celebration will be on Thursday, November 8, at noon in Emerson Suites. The event will last 50 minutes.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. James Henery, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Ithaca and a Vietnam veteran. Music will be provided by IC VoICes, conducted by asistant professor Susan Avery and the Ithaca College Brass Choir, conducted by Keith Kaiser. The CU/IC ROTC will present the colors.
