Spanish major Adam Weiss '07 has been awarded a prestigious grant request from the Cultural Embassy of Spain. As a North American language and culture assistant, he will teach English in Andalucía, Spain, during the 2007-2008 academic year.

All students in Cory Young's Crisis Management class (fall 2006) conducted original research on text messaging during Hurricane Katrina. Their research was written up as a manuscript and entered in the Lambda Pi Eta Mock Communication Convention. The students won the award for top paper.

Toastmasters Meeting 5/8/07

The next meeting for the Ithaca College Toastmasters Club is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th at 9:00 a.m. in the North Meeting Room in Egbert Hall.

Elections for club officers will take place at this meeting so we hope to see you there to support our candidates!

Angus Godwin will retire at the end of the spring 2007 semester after an Ithaca College teaching career which began in 1969. All faculty and staff are cordially invited to attend a reception at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10th in the McHenry Lobby of the Whalen Center for Music to honor his distinguished career. A memory book is being created and members of the faculty and staff are invited to send either hard copy letters or emails Dianne Zamoiski, dzamoiski@ithaca.edu.

The Friday, May 4th, final session of this semester's discussion forum, Recognizing and Responding to Students in Distress, has been rescheduled. The new date is Wednesday, May 9th at 10:00am. The session will take place in the Counseling Center (274-3136).

Do you need to know more about how to use Homer/HomerConnect? Drop-in sessions will be available in the Boardman Place training room on Thursday and Friday, May 10th and 11th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. No appointment is necessary. Registrar's Office personnel will be available to talk about anything you want or need to know about Homer/HomerConnect, from grading to degree audit.

These sessions are prior to when senior grades are due and may be very helpful for administrative assistants and faculty.

As always, your feedback will be welcome!

The Campus Life Award is given each year to a select group of graduating seniors in order to recognize their outstanding contributions to the Ithaca College community through participation and involvement in campus life. Over the years this award has become a coveted goal and valued honor. In order to be nominated for this prestigious award, students must have been extensively involved in a number of areas of campus life and have demonstrated significant leadership abilities and accomplishments.
