Through this simple yet powerful act, we can help to ensure children’s books are a special part of the the routines and traditions of family life for all children in our community. We know that books increase in value when they are given as gifts, especially when they come as part of the holidays, and as gifts from a parent.

Give the Gift of Family Reading is a children’s book drive for the holidays, designed to provide beautiful new books for parents of low-income families to give to their children as holiday gifts.

Michael Trotti, Professor in the History Department presented a paper titled “Public Executions as the Historical Context for Lynching” at the Southern Historical Association annual meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, November, 2006. He also organized this panel, titled “Race, Lynching, and Legal Executions in the South and Southwest.”

Asma Barlas, director of CSCRE and Professor of Politics, has published a chapter on "Women's Readings of the Qur'an," in The Cambridge Companion to the Qur'an, edited by Jane McAuliffe and published by the University of Cambridge this month.

Prints and the Revolution is an exhibition of new photographic works by sixteen artists. The exhibition is independently organized and curated by the members of Ithaca College’s senior thesis photography class.

Bruce Thompson, Assistant Professor of Physics, and Tayza Yeelin, a senior physics major, have published a paper entitled "Duplicity in 16 Piscium Confirmed from Its Occultation by 7 Iris on 2006 May 5" in the December issue of Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.

The paper reports an observation of the minor planet Iris as it passed in front of the star 16 Piscium in the constellation Pisces. The analysis of the data shows that the star is really two stars of approximately equal magnitude. Their separation is too small to be observed by standard telescopic observations but was evident in the way that the light dimmed and reappeared during the event.
