Due to a higher than expected demand, the Phillips Hall post office is out of one- and two-cent stamps, and has a very limited number of thirty-nine-cent stamps. The shortage exists throughout the Ithaca area post offices as well.

The Ithaca College Chemistry Club is proud to present a lecture by Professor Roald Hoffmann, the 1981 Nobel prize winner in chemistry. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, February 7 at 4:30 p.m., and will be held in the Center for Natural Sciences, room 112. His talk, entitled "Old Wine, New Flasks: Reflections on Science and the Jewish Tradition," is free and open to all in the Ithaca College community. A small meet-and-greet reception will take place before the seminar at 4:00 p.m. on the first floor lobby of CNS.

The yearlong film series "Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen: The Many Meanings of Family" continues with two screenings in January. “Daddy & Papa," an award-winning examination of the personal, cultural, and political implications of gay fatherhood, will be shown on Tuesday, January 24. A screening of "Our House," an exploration of growing up with gay and lesbian parents, will take place on Wednesday, January 25. Both events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Textor 102.

Guest cellist Dennis Parker will present a free recital at Ithaca College on Wednesday, January 25. The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Pianist Jennifer Hayghe will collaborate in a program entitled "Stolen Sonatas." All the music on the program was originally composed for instruments other than the cello, and has been transcribed by Parker. Works of Debussy, Enescu, and Poulenc will be included.

Join panelists Charles Santiago, Sean Eversley-Bradwell, Naeem Inayatullah, Zillah Eisenstein, and Baruch Whitehead for an interactive discussion on one of Dr. King's sermons, "Breaking the Silence." This speech was given by Dr. King at a meeting of Clergy and Laity Concerned at Riverside Church in New York City on April 4, 1967, regarding the Vietnam war. A reading of passages from this sermon will be followed by faculty reflections on Dr. King's message, and interactive round-table discussions.

MLK-Tribute Showcase

Celebrate Dr. King's legacy through this showcase of visual and performing arts. Talent drawn from the Ithaca community and student organizations will perform a tribute to Dr. King and help us close out our week-long series of events. Performers include: DJ Peck, IC Stand Up, Rhythm and Shoes, GIAC children's singers, Music School student and faculty performers, and IC Comedy Club.

Judith Pena-Shaff and Hugh Stephenson from the Psychology Department at Ithaca College, with William Altman, published an article related to students' perceptions and expectations about online learning. It appeared in the most recent issue of the Journal of Interactive Learning Research.

The occupational therapy (OT) adult clinic (located in Center for Health Sciences at IC) currently has openings for outpatients. The clinic provides free OT services to faculty, staff, students, and immediate families. We help people whose ability to perform everyday activities has been limited by injury, disease, or the effects of aging.
