The Ithaca College Board of Trustees gathered on campus last week for its fall meetings, at which we welcomed the six new members who have joined the board since May—Rosanna Aybar, Luvelle Brown, David Meberg ’85, Orinthia Montague, Ellen Staurowsky, M.S. ’78, and student trustee Yetunde Smalls ’21.

We are pleased to share with you now this update regarding our board’s time on campus, which included robust discussions, important decisions, and many opportunities for our trustees to engage with our campus community.

How will we meet the complex challenges of the 21st century? We will need to find ways to combine insights and ideas from many fields of study and to use them creatively. Concepts and tools from systems science and design can help us do this. They are introduced through a series of engaging learning activities. Pass/Fail. 1 credit. No prerequisites. LA.

Interested in learning about Ithaca's history? Join Embrace Magazine on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Park Auditorium for a screening of Civil Warriors, a narrative film that details the untold stories of two Ithaca families whose men fought in the Civil War as a part of the U.S. Colored Troops. Panel discussion with the filmmakers to follow.

The creation of this website was in response to numerous federal reporting and public disclosure requirements for higher education institutions which were mandated in the Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA, Public Law 110-315).

  The Ithacan will be holding its first community outreach discussion at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, in Klingenstein Lounge. The Ithacan wants the community’s feedback on how it can be a more representative, inclusive newspaper, specifically to learn more about how it can cover marginalized communities better. To read more about why The Ithacan is pursuing these discussions, read more here: Commentary: The Ithacan strives to be more inclusive.

 All in the community are invited to attend — however, this discussion will be focused on how The Ithacan can better represent the college’s student population. Refreshments will be provided!

Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Screen Studies, Sueyoung Park-Primiano, presented her paper, "The War Trilogies of Italy and South Korea: Postwar Cinemas of Resistance and Reconciliation," at the Italy and East Asia: Exchanges and Parallels International Conference held at Stony Brook University, Long Island, on October 13, 2018. The paper offers a comparative analysis of the war trilogies from Italy (Roberto Rossellini) and Korea (Choi In-kyu), providing equal attention to their local and regional histories--such as Korean cinema's prior investments in the realist aesthetic as an anti-colonial strategy--in order to better understand neorealism and decenter it from its Western locus.

The Ithaca College Department of Athletics is now accepting applications from IC students for the Spring 2019 semester who wish to obtain academic credits and work within athletics. All internship opportunities are three to six credits (180-360 hours) and will entail evening and/or weekend hours.
