If you took Introduction to Painting Class - ICC themed or regular- you are eligible to take Intermediate Painting. Assignments center on exploring space, utopia and dystopia, story telling through painting, and process- based abstractions. The course is Wed/Fri 9-11:40. Note if you took an ICC version of the Introduction Class you will need to request an override.

 

 Incoming freshmen are encouraged to try their hand at Crew.

There is an information meeting on Monday, August 27, in the Business School, room 111.  Interested women will meet at 6pm.  Men will follow at 7pm.

Newcomers can sign up for PALS Learn-to-Row, CRN 23900, course # 05600-01.

Clinical Instructor Katie Sheehan, MS, ATC and Professor Paul R. Geisler, EdD, ATC of the Athletic Training Education program in DESS were recently awarded a modest diversity enhancement grant by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee (NATA EDAC). Submitted on behalf of the AT Program's EquAT and InclusivAT programming and with the help of several current Athletic Training students, the grant will fund a unique program involving Ithaca High School students during the coming academic year.

At its year end get together, the Athletic Training Education Program in the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences awarded Associate Clinical Professor, Courtney Gray, MS, ATC the Michael Matheny Excellence in Clinical Education Award for her outstanding contributions and accomplishments to CAATE accredited professional healthcare program.

 All first year and transfer students are welcome to attend the Catholic Community First Year Retreat taking place on Saturday Sept. 8 from 9:30 AM- 5 PM. 

Make connections with new friends and have fun! On the retreat, there will be talks from student leaders, small group discussions and free time where students can swim and play games.

Nancy Rader, Psychology, recently published an article in the Journal of Ecological Psychology entitled, “Uniting Jimmy and Jackie: Foundation for a Research Program in Developmental Ecological Psychology.” The article reviews her 45-year research career as motivated by the perceptual theories of Eleanor and James Gibson. For a copy of this article, email rader@ithaca.edu. She also presented a paper this summer at the 15th European Workshop of Ecological Psychology in Montauban, France, entitled, “Synchrony Between Gesture and Speech in Language Directed at Infants: Amodal, Multimodal, Supramodal, or Metamodal?“

Jessye Cohen-Filipic, Associate Professor of Psychology and Interim Honors Program Director, participated in two symposia and one poster presentation at the American Psychological Association national convention in San Francisco.
