Mayor Svante Myrick of Ithaca NY will speak on his work to support the LGBTQ community on Tues. October 10 in Clark Lounge, Campus Center, in observance of National Coming Out Day.

Mayor Myrick has been at the forefront of acting in solidarity with LGBTQ communities, has sought to create and maintain city policies and practices that uphold dignity, respect, and equity, has issued mayoral proclamations in observance of National Coming Out Day and International Transgender Day of Visibility, and has flown the Pride flag from atop City Hall

Individuals are being recruited for a study here at Ithaca College to learn about the differences in physical therapy programs on the walking and balance of those who have had stroke. Eligible participants are those who had a stroke more than 6 months ago, who can walk at least 20 feet (with out without the use of a walker or cane) and who are generally healthy. Those who participate will receive physical therapy either in the pool or on land using a treadmill 3 times per week for 4 weeks, and will be compensated for their time. Total time for participation in this study is 15 hours.

The Ithaca College School of Music is offering a prize to encourage composers to write music for performance by a jazz ensemble. The winner of the David P. ’60 and Susan W. Wohlhueter Jazz Composition Contest will receive a $1,000 prize, along with a recording of the piece performed by the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble with guest drummer Matt Wilson

The prize was established through the generosity of Ithacan David Wohlhueter — a 1960 Ithaca College graduate and former longtime sports information director at both IC and Cornell — and his wife, Susan.
