The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Ithaca and surrounding areas in effect until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms producing tornadoes in and close to the watch area. Those living in watch areas are advised to monitor weather reports for a possible upgrade to a Tornado Warning, which means that a tornado is indicated by radar or sighted by trained storm spotters.

Sports Media Professor Dr. Ellen J. Staurowsky along with three students – Ben Koch (Sports Media ’20), Grace Dury (TV-R major, Sport Studies minor), and Cooper Hayes (Sports Media ’20) – published a peer-reviewed article entitled Exploring Narratives of Scarcity, Uncertainty, and Opportunity in Women’s Sports Coverage During the COVID-19 Pandemic in the International Journal of Sport Communication.  This article was included in the IJSC Special Issue on Sport and the Coronavirus Crisis and started as a project in Sport Studies Special Topics: Title IX and Sport class in the spring of 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.1123/ijsc.2020-0226

 

MACLAS Keynote Speaker: 9:45-10:45am --Dr. Jennifer Jolly- Professor of Art History, Ithaca College

Dr. Jolly was awarded the 2019 Arthur P. Whitaker Prize for the best book. Her book is titled Creating Pátzcuaro, Creating Mexico: Art, Tourism, and Nation Building under Lázaro Cárdenas (Univ. of Texas Press 2018).

Dr. Duke organized the symposium "The Management Field in Light of the Climate and Environmental Crises: What Changes Do We Have to  Make?" in which scholars and experts at the confluence of management theory and the natural environment came together to discuss fundamental changes the field of management must undertake to respond meaningfully to the climate crisis.

In the "Film Schools" summer issue of Filmmaker Magazine--its most widely circulated issue--Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, Mitch McCabe, wrote an article on director-cinematographers in Documentary titled "The Beautiful Stubborn Loneliness of the Filmmaker-Shooter," interviewing a diverse array of seven nonfiction filmmakers, ethnographers, and experimental moving image makers on the practice and implications of filming their own work.

Zoom for Outlook Add-in

The Zoom for Outlook add-in allows you to easily add a Zoom meeting to any new or existing calendar event through Microsoft Outlook for the web, Windows, and macOS. If you plan to use this feature, we recommend installing the add-in via the Zoom for Outlook add-in article in the IT Knowledge Base article rather than from the Zoom Download Center. Please note the previous Zoom Outlook plugin for macOS is no longer supported and macOS users should install the Zoom for Outlook add-in.

School of Business Professor Christine Bataille (Management) recently had an article accepted in the Academy of Management Review (one of the top journals in the field of Management). The article focuses on the multiple identities that individuals hold, the relationships between these identities, and responses to identity threats and opportunities.

As per yesterday’s communication, regular COVID-19 testing is required for all employees planning to access campus this fall. Our next testing dates are Friday, August 28 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and Saturday, August 29 from 9:00 – 12:00 (noon) pm. An important change to the testing protocol moving forward is that employees no longer need to self-quarantine after being tested.

The Academic Advising Center is hosting ICC Portfolio Working Sessions weekly throughout the spring semester.  Drop in on the following dates in March between 1:00-3:00 p.m. for assistance:
