Janice Elich Monroe, RLS and Susan Durnford, SLPA were invited to present two seminars at the NDVWSC event < http://wintersportsclinic.org/> April 4th-5th in Snowmass, CO.  Presentations included “Storytelling as Therapy” and  “The BREATH Pathway” which included evidence-based storytelling and mindfulness intervention approaches for veterans, caregivers, and clinicians.

All are invited to the second-annual Ithaca Pan Asian American Film Festival. The festival opens this Friday, April 15, at 4:00pm in Textor 102 with a screening of Americanese. Director Eric Byler and author Shawn Wong will be joining us. Events run through the weekend, culminating Sunday night with the closing gala at 5:30pm in the Business School atrium.

Before a week of finals, we think that free food, live music, inflatables, and games are the best way to celebrate the end of the year. But we need your help to make it happen!

IC Kicks Back will be closing out the year and kicking off the summer on Friday, May 6th from 2pm-6pm! Volunteers will be needed throughout that Friday afternoon to help with:

·       Checking ID’s

·       Managing the inflatables and other activities

·       Photography

All Volunteers will get a FREE IC Kicks Back Shirt!

Looking for a desk space to get all student organization work done? Want to be the first to know about free food and exciting events in the Student Activities Center? Then apply for a SAC Tenant space by Sunday April 17th!

What is the SAC?

The SAC (Student Activities Center) is located on the 3rd floor of campus center, connected to the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA). This space is open to all students, and comes with a lot of great benefits like:

  • Free use of SAC supplies for student organizations (markers, posters, paper, etc)
  • Free coffee, tea, and candy
  • Free access to informed Student Leadership Consultants
  • Free adobe products on desktop computers
  • A clean, relaxing place to study or hang out

 Four Ithaca College students presented at the 2016 Phi Alpha Theta Upstate and Central New York Regional Conference hosted by the Ithaca College Department of History.  Alyssa Gilliam, won a "Paper Award" for her research paper “For the Cultivation of Still Wider and More Unselfish Interests: Female university students and community in Great Britain, 1850-1910.”

Some of Ithaca College’s brightest and most creative students will present their impressive research at the 19th Annual James J. Whalen Academic Symposium on Thursday, April 14.

Four hundred and twenty students representing 49 departments will participate by giving oral presentations or displaying posters and other creative works. There will be 326 presentations in total.

This year’s keynote address will be given by Professor of physics and astronomy Luke Keller and senior Madison Mangano.  Keller and Mangano will present Mangano’s senior thesis, entitled “Listening to the Atoms and Molecules of Distant Solar Systems.” Her research focuses on the use of sonification – the transformation of light signals into audio signals – to analyze complex spectral data sets.

In student organizations, officers and members come and go, but this session will teach you how to deal with those inevitable transitions. You will learn the steps for successful transitions from student leaders on a panel. You will also have the chance to share experiences with transition that you may have had.

Three individuals will be recognized for distinguished service and accomplishments in their respective fields by being awarded honorary degrees from Ithaca College: New York Times correspondent Adam B. Ellick, Fisher House Foundation chair and chief executive officer Kenneth Fisher and Young People’s Chorus of New York City founder and artistic director Francisco J. Núñez.
