(267 words) Dr. Alka Bramhandkar Announced as Interim Dean in the School of BusinessContributed by MaryAnn Taylor on 06/11/20 Provost La Jerne Terry Cornish has announced that Dr. Alka Bramhandkar will serve as interim dean of the School of Business effective July 1, 2020 while a search for the successor to Dean Sean Reid is conducted in the fall semester. Bramhandkar is currently a professor and chair of the Finance and International Business department. Reid announced that he has accepted the position of provost at Providence College. “I am pleased that Dr. Bramhandkar will be in this leadership role,” said Cornish. “Her service as a faculty member, associate dean and department chair within the School of Business provides experience and knowledge that will prove valuable in the interim position. I am grateful that she has agreed to contribute her leadership during the transitional period.” Read more . . . The IC administration has demanded that the Contingent Faculty Union post to intercom a public retraction of a previous intercom message directed at faculty colleagues, which was interpreted by the administration as a call for a strike and a violation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. While the union did not at any point intend to call for a strike or otherwise interfere with the essential teaching duties of any faculty at IC during this time of turmoil, we are happy to comply with the administration’s demand and take the opportunity to clarify our previous message.
