As of 12/13/2020 we only have 81 volunteers registered, but we anticipate needing at least 200, if not closer to 300 depending on how many shifts each volunteer can take! Dear Staff,

As you are aware, the College is trying to balance protecting the health of our campus community with the fiscal pressures of containing the spread of COVID-19. An important public health strategy in minimizing spread is the required asymptomatic testing of anyone accessing campus. In addition, areas that people access are regularly disinfected by our facilities team. In an effort to extend our budgeted testing dollars as long as possible into the spring, as well as to make every effort to preserve time and costs associated with our facilities staff, we are asking that employees limit their access to campus between December 18 and January 25 to the greatest extent possible.

We are seeking volunteers to serve as College Trained Advisors and/or Board Members for cases of sexual misconduct. Both Advisors and Board Members play a critical role in protecting student rights and enacting due process measures.

College Trained Advisors are part of a pool of college employees made available, through the Title IX Office, to complainants and respondents as they go through the investigative and student conduct processes. Advisors are an invaluable supportive measure for participants of the sexual misconduct process, as they offer support, knowledge, and a helping hand throughout the process.

Board Members will be called upon for Conduct Review Boards to review all evidence collected during an investigation and presented by Complainants and Respondents during the hearing. This board will present a finding based on the preponderance of evidence. Conduct Review Board members are an essential part of the decision-making process and ensure a fair and equitable experience for all involved parties throughout the duration of the hearing.

The IC Web Team has completed the work of migrating all staff web profiles out of the old WPM system to our new Drupal website. With this important first step complete, we will be preparing to migrate all web profiles for faculty starting in January 2021.

In a time that has challenged us deeply, pulling at our optimism and separating us from each other, I am so proud to announce that the Ithaca College School of Music community has come together to pay tribute to all who have been impacted by the COVID pandemic: to those who have lost their lives and to their loved ones, as well as to the health care professionals and other essential, frontline workers who continue to take personal risks to serve others in their communities.

Please join us for a book club focused on the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion created through the Women’s Mentoring Network. The purpose of the book club is to engage people in conversations surrounding diversity, and how we can make a more inclusive campus. The books may not all relate explicitly to higher education, and the discussions can take us beyond the university lens. Text is used to give everyone a common-ground on which to begin these conversations, and we will look into texts that explore different facets of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

All relationships and endeavors are based in conversation. If differences are to be made, conversations are how those changes will come about.  Typically, conversations are monologues occurring simultaneously. Every second we are flooded with personal biases and opinions; how are we supposed to engage in interactions with an open and curious mind? And how do we do it expeditiously?  These are good questions, especially in these times of volatility, uncertainty, and complexity.

The Opioid Overdose Prevention Training Workshop is a skill-building program presented by staff from Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP). The workshop is designed to help you in recognizing and preventing fatal opioid overdoses. Participants will learn basic information about opioid drugs, harm reduction, signs of overdose, and how to administer naloxone in the case of an medical emergency. Participants who complete the training will receive an identification card that they can use to obtain a free naloxone kit at the STAP location in downtown Ithaca.
