Last week ITS advised users of college-owned Macs not to install the latest software update from Apple due to a problem it caused with iPrint and network printers. A new iPrint client has been released and Mac users must install the new client and then install software updates to avoid printing problems.

Install New iPrint Client:

  • Open the Safari Web browser and go to http://print-server.ithaca.edu/ipp
  • Click Install iPrint Client at the top right of the screen
  • Follow the on-screen prompts for installation
  • Exit Safari when the installation is complete

Install Software Updates:

  • Go to the Apple menu
  • Select Software Update and wait for the system to check for updates
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to install any updates that are available
  • Reboot when updates have been installed

The Mac should now have all necessary updates and network printing should work normally.
