There is Still Time to Grab a Seat in Your Choice of Weight Watchers At Work Meetings! Series 7 Begins Tuesday, April 19, 2011.Contributed by Christine Haase on 04/15/11 This is a reminder that it’s not too late to register for another 17-week At Work series and receive free eTools and payroll deduction (for IC employees) as a payment option. Please refer to the Intercom announcement dated 3/23/2011 for program information. Still sitting on the fence about joining? Here are the Top Ten reasons (contributed by various WW@W members in the trenches, working the program) for joining WW@W@IC: #10 Results--it started working as soon as I started working it! #9 Familiar people that I feel comfortable with and get to know others that work at IC #8 To have an excuse to leave the office once a week and get away from my desk! #7 To practice my German (with Gertie) #6 FUN--I stayed because everyone is so nice. #5 I realized the program MUST REALLY WORK because people right here in our IC community have lost and have been successful at keeping it off!! #4 To learn from one of the most award-winning leaders in Weight Watchers - Samarra! #3 Because meetings are RIGHT HERE (I make the time to go and I don't have an excuse.) #2 Payroll deduction And the #1 reason for joining WW@W@IC: SAMARRA (leader) & GERTIE (receptionist) ARE FABULOUS! Make the commitment to yourself and attend the meetings each week. Going on vacation this summer? That’s all the more reason to stay in the game. Weight Watchers offers so many ways for you to tailor the program to meet your needs. Learn how to balance your responsibilities and manage your priorities. Develop your focus so that you can achieve what you want in life. Get help when you need it most and be a support for someone else. What could be better than that? Let’s take advantage of all our resources (It’s not just about the food!) and navigate this journey together…one day at a time. See you next week? I eventually learned that I have to stay in the game, no matter how uncomfortable or disappointed or frustrated I may be feeling at the time. And believe me, I was feeling pretty bad about myself last year. I was the poster child for not referring to my WW materials, not tracking my food consumption, not making smart choices, not making the best effort to stay within my daily and weekly allowances, etc. After dropping an initial ten pounds when we started the current round of At Work sessions in April 2009, I was even slowly gaining weight! Ugh.
The one positive thing that I was doing throughout all that chaos was attending the meetings each week. I knew that I needed to maintain that connection and that eventually I would hear or see something that would turn things around for me. And I did! I also did some soul searching and adjusted some of my priorities and habits. I have since come to the realization that there are many things in my life that are out of my control. But this program and how I decide to work it is totally within my control. That is my anchor, which is represented by my three-month tracker, and keeps me grounded.
I think about the passage of time in one week increments and manage the program one day at a time. It’s been working for me and I have shed (I love that word!) twenty-eight pounds. How long that took is not important, and I can’t think about that or how far I still want to go or how long that’s going to take. I need to focus on managing the program in whatever way works for me one day at a time. Two things I read/heard recently and wrote down in my tracker for reference (It’s not just a food diary!): Hope is not a plan and You can’t just want it, you have to do it.
This process continues to be a challenge for me. We are so fortunate to have two meeting times from which to choose right here on campus with an awesome leader, who really understands the program and our potential to succeed, along with a wonderful receptionist, who is a leader in her own right.
I am looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces next week!
