Workplace harassment is a decades-old problem, and given the current events, prevention training is important as ever. The context of this training not only speaks to current events, but it is also strategically aligned with our college’s commitment to improve campus climate and to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus community.  This responsibility rests with all of us.

We have received robust feedback in response to our request for all employees to complete the mandatory harassment prevention training* and we are dedicated to responding to those concerns.  Some of you have also shared some concerns about the validity of the email communication.  In response to those concerns and in collaboration with faculty and staff council leadership, we offer the following guidance:

  • All faculty, staff and administrators should have received emails from LawRoom Training, containing a link to complete the mandatory online Workplace Harassment Prevention training on Monday, October 23, 2017.  This is a valid email, and will show “From: Ithaca College [mailto:donotreply@lawroom.com]”.
  • The training is self-paced and will take most employees between 1 to 2 hours to complete.  However, a few employees have informed us that the training took them a little more than 2 hours.
  • The training is online and self-paced, so you may exit the training and return to it at a later time picking back up where you left off.  You will not need to restart the training as all work completed will be saved.
  • The training is mobile enabled and has an easy to use accessibility mode.
  • The due date for completion of the course has been extended to December 1, 2017.
  • The original intercom article from October 3, 2017, can be found here:  https://www.ithaca.edu/intercom/article.php/20171003213853724#.WfD3m2hSxhF

We appreciate the ongoing feedback and are looking forward to collaborating with our faculty and staff in order to improve this process moving forward.  If you have any questions about the training, please contact the Office of Human Resources at 607-274-8000 or your faculty or staff council representative.

This online training is easy and informative. I was able to come and go as I needed to, picking up where I left off and it took me less than two hours to complete. Very informative and grateful for the opportunity to learn and freshen up the knowledge I already have.
