On November 26 Dr. Paul De Luca presented a seminar of his research documenting arthropod diversity at The Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, on Eleuthera Island, in The Bahamas. Dr. De Luca was invited to present his findings as part of the Fall 2014 Levy Preserve Lecture Series. He has been working at The Levy Preserve since 2012 at the request of The Bahamas National Trust which oversees the management of the national park system in The Bahamas. In the 2 years since he has been working there he has identified over 300 species of arthropods, including the recent discovery of a new species of katydid which he is currently describing in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Toronto.

-        You will be able to view your final grades on HomerConnect by 12:00 noon on  Wednesday, December 31.

-        Updated earned credits and calculation of your grade point average will be available  for viewing after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015.

You will have access to your final grade rosters in HomerConnect beginning on December 15. Please note the later deadline date for submission of fall grades: all final grades are due by Tuesday, December 30 at 12:00 noon. The deadline has been extended on a trial basis for this fall semester only.

Faculty members who have not successfully submitted all of their final grades by the December 30, 12:00 noon deadline will receive a Homer system-generated e-mail with the list of missing final grades.

Janice Elich Monroe presented a session entitled, BREATH Pathway to Personal and Professional Success: An exploration and Application of Mindfulfulness and Relaxation Techniques utilizing Multi-Sensory Environments at the International Snoozelen an Multi-sensory Environments XII World Conference in Hameenlinna, Finland on October 31, 2014.

Monroe was instrumental in planning the conference as an English reader, manuscript reviewer for the E-Journal and published an article by the same title in the journal. The conference included trip to a variety of treatment facilities for individuals with disabling conditions that specialized in providing multi-sensory environments.

Faculty, graduate students, and alumni from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology presented at the ASHA Convention November 20-22. With over 12,000 attendees, the Annual Convention is the prime professional development event for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists.

 The Center for Print Production will be open extended hours from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM the weeks of December 8-12 and 15-19 to help with your end of semester needs.

As announced in a previous intercom article, access to the ACE webpage, which acts as a portal to Parnassus, Argus, Homer, IC Workflow, and Advance, was being blocked by the most up to date versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. During the semester prior to graduation, all Leadership Scholars present a Senior Capstone to highlight who they have become as a leader and a scholar during their time at Ithaca College. The scholars present on a variety of experiences that have helped them develop leadership skills, and they are asked to discuss the impact of these experiences on their plans after IC, as well.

The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts will present "Dying City" by Christopher Shinn. This production is directed by Timothy Rheiner ‘15 and will be presented in the Earl McCarroll Studio in Dillingham Center.

Tickets for "Dying City" are free, but reservations are required. To reserve tickets, visit ithacaisdying.eventbrite.com. All tickets are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Tickets must be picked up no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the performance. Performance dates and times are as follows:

December 7th – 6:00pm and 8:30pm
December 8th – 6:00pm and 8:30pm

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will be offering free, drop-in tutoring--no appointment necessary--in various foreign languages for students enrolled in language courses. Sessions will be held in the Language and Cultural Exchange Cooperative (Job 209) at the following times during the Fall 2014 semester:

  • Arabic: Wednesdays, 11:30-1:30 p.m.
  • French: Tuesdays, 3:00-4:00 p.m., Fridays, 11 a.m.-noon
  • German: Tuesdays, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • Hebrew: Thursdays, 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Italian: Fridays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.
  • Mandarin (Chinese): Tuesdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
