Recycling: Doing it Right

Contributed by Mark Darling on 09/10/14

Single Stream recycling means you can put all the recycling together in one bin, as long as that bin isn’t the trash bin. You can mix the recycling together in the bin in your room and then take it outside and place it in the Blue or Green bins with the “R” on them.

Recycling is the simplest thing you can do to safe guard our life-support systems.  It also helps the College keep costs down by saving money; we have to pay to dump the trash but, we get paid for recycling.

Stop by IC Square at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 12th to support Chris Allinger, radio host of Q 103.7, as he raises money for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's BackPack™ Program. Ithaca College will be his last stop and we've set up the sage to welcome him back to Ithaca!

On Monday, Chris began his 100+ mile trek around Tompkins County at Cornell University. As Chris walks, he collects donations to support the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. The BackPack™ Program provides healthy, kid-friendly foods to children at risk for hunger. These children do not have access to food at home over the weekends and holiday breaks and each child in the program discreetly receives a backpack stuffed with food to last through their school break.

Show your support for Chris and the Food Bank by cheering him on the last leg of his route through IC Square on Friday, September 12th at 3:00 PM. Refreshments will be provided!

More information about Walkin' the Country and the Food Bank can be found here
