The Hangar Theatre 2014 season opens Friday, June 13 with the award winning play,Red. Red zeroes in on the real-life aesthetic and personal crises encountered by acclaimed artist Mark Rothko when he accepts a commission to paint giant murals for the Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan. The 2014 season is the first for new Hangar artistic director, Ithaca College alumna Jen Waldman. Additional IC alumni and faculty are featured in the three subsequent productions. Tickets are available by going to hangartheatre.org, by calling 273-2787, or by visiting the box office at the theatre. Subscribers see all four productions for a discount nearly equal to the cost of single tickets for only three productions. The Hangar provides subscribers with choice seats and a liberal exchange policy. Go to hangartheatre.org for aditional information about the productions. Check out the five Kidstuff productions, always popular with children.

Yvonne Rogalski, Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, presented a poster titled "Exploratory Study on Hearing, Cognition, and Memory in Aging" at the Clinical Aphasiology Conference in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The poster was co-authored by Amy Rominger (pictured right), Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, and discussed an exploratory study investigating the effects of unaided hearing loss on cognition and recall for auditory versus written expository text passages in normal hearing young adults, normal hearing older adults, and older adults with hearing loss.

Results of the study showed participants performed better on the recall of auditory information regardless of group, hearing loss was associated with several cognitive measures.

The Ithaca College Interdisciplinary Internship Coordinator’s Committee (I2C2) held an interdisciplinary conference for supervisors of Ithaca College students, Mindfulness Theory and Practice: Teaching Students who Struggle, on Friday June 6, 2014 at La Tourelle in Ithaca, NY.

If you have a dependent between the ages of 19 and 25 who is a full time student but did not receive Dependent Tuition Remission or a Cash Award for the 2014-2015 academic year, please complete a dependent/contact update form and attach documentation that verifies this information (a printed schedule, tuition bill etc.). In order for your dependent to continue coverage for the dental, vision & hearing care, dependent life, and AD&D,  FT student status must be verified prior to August 31st.

Patricia R. Zimmermann recently served as an invited panelist for the Media Arts section of the National Endowment for the Arts 2014 round of grants.

The National Endowment for the Arts offers grants to support the development, production, and distribution of innovative projects that demonstrate media as art and media about the arts (e.g., visual arts, music, dance, literature, design, theater, musical theater, opera, folk & traditional arts, and media arts including animation and digital art).

From the moment you were born, you had unique gut instincts. There were things you “knew” long before you were taught or learned to think; things that stick with you for life. The way you play; how much "alone time" you need or want; the type of friends you choose; the work that interests you; how and whom you date; the physical exercise you like best; the spiritual practice that appeals to you; the type of living situation you prefer, what a “fun” vacation looks like–in short, all of the things that make you feel most fully alive, most joyful, most “you.” Not only were these drivers present in you at birth–they can often be expressed in just five to seven words.
