Do you want to downsize and not have your “stuff” control you and your time? Or are you an adult child who wants to help your parents transition out of their home and into a more supportive living environment?

Find the answers to these and other questions at the Senior Housing Expo on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Hotel Ithaca (formerly the Holiday Inn) at 222 S. Cayuga St., Ithaca. The Expo will feature over 20 housing providers and facilities, as well as speakers about senior housing options and downsizing. This free event is sponsored by the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute and the Tompkins County Office for the Aging.

Please come and join the Ithaca College Animal Rights club on April 7th in textor 102 at 6 o'clock pm,  for  a lovely presentation by Kathy Stevens. Kathy is the founder of the catskill animal sanctuary and is going to talk about her work and experience at the sanctuary! We would love to have as many people as we can there to support our club and listen to what Kathy has to say!

Dr. Christopher House, assistant professor of communication studies and former predoctoral diversity fellow, recently learned that he will receive the 2014 TRIO Achiever Award from the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education.  As the organization articulates:  “A TRIO Achiever is an outstanding former TRIO participant that has received recognition within his/her profession or for outstanding academic achievement. They are individuals who have made significant civic, community, or professional contributions.”  TRIO programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and began as part of the 1965 Higher Education Act.

Become a bone marrow donor!

Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to find a cure for cancer? Do you want to literally save someone's life? If the answer is yes we have good news!

You can register as a potential bone marrow donor on April 10th between 12:30-5:30 p.m. in the Mondo Gym.

It is completely free to register and it takes less than ten minutes to fill out paperwork and perform a cheek swab. No bone marrow will actually be extracted the day of the drive. Instead you will be put on the National Bone Marrow Registry and only be asked to donate if you are found to be a lifesaving match for someone. This is your chance to give cancer patient's hope and potentially cure them of their cancer forever!

IC Kicks Back Needs You!

Calling all volunteers for this year’s IC Kicks Back! We need a grand total of 30 volunteers to help with various jobs throughout the afternoon. Some jobs include:

-Maintaining lines for the inflatables and photo booths

-Checking IDs

-Taking photos of the event

A FREE IC Kicks Back T-shirt will be included!
