Today the Roy H. Park School of Communications houses more than 1,500 students, but its beginnings date back to 1931 when the first radio course was taught. In 1973, the School of Communications was founded, later named after Roy H. Park.

Please join us as we celebrate our 40th anniversary as a school.

Sara Haefeli, assistant professor of music, will speak at the "Your Brain Needs Music" Symposium in Boulder, Colorado on Friday, October 11.  Last week she presented a paper at the International Conference of the Society for Minimalist Music in Long Beach, California.

The St. James A.M.E. Zion Church will host a screening of "The Spirit of Freedom and Progress in Tompkins," a documentary produced by Assistant Professor Gossa Tsegaye on October 12. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is free an open to the public.

The documentary features a staged a dramatic reading of Frederick Douglass’ impassioned 1852 speech. Tsegaye produced and directed the live reading with a crew of 15 Ithaca students and several Park School Technical Operations staff members in October 2012. The event was coordinated by The History Center and the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church.

Hello IC Campus Community!

Your last chance to get belay certified this semester is Thursday, October 10 from 8pm-11pm. Please try to show up promptly at 8 so that we can have everyone start the lesson together. The cost is $10, or free with a $30 semester pass. If you know how to belay, we will test you immediately so you do not have to sit through the lesson, however, we do expect you to belay within our standard. Climbing harnesses, shoes, and chalk will all be provided.  See you there!
