Carl Potts, former Executive Editor of Marvel Comics, will present “Inside The Art of Visual Storytelling: A master class with Carl Potts” on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. in the Park Auditorium.

Potts has held various creative lead positions in publishing, entertainment, marketing, interactive, and education. He served as Executive Editor of Marvel Comics for 13 years. He also created Alien Legion, Marvel/Epic Comics’ longest running original title, and Last of the Dragons, currently in development as a TV series.

Potts has also consulted for Ogilvy & Mather and is the author of The DC Comics Guide to Creating Comics: Inside the Art of Visual Storytelling, which will be released in October 2013.

The event is free and open to the public.

I am pleased to announce that President Rochon has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Shanghai Normal University, a comprehensive university located in the financial and business capitol of China.

Last week, the College welcomed Dr. MAO Xuncheng, Dean of the School of Finance and Business and Assistant to the President for International Affairs at Shanghai Normal University. Dean MAO brought with him the MOU signed by President ZHANG Minxuan. This MOU is noteworthy because it demonstrates the commitment between both institutional presidents to continue discussions regarding the establishment of a center based at the Shanghai Normal University campus.

Farewell to Scott Flickinger

Hello Campus Community!

You are invited to say goodbye to Scott Flickinger, Program Coordinator of Intramurals for the Office of Recreational Sports.  Scott has accepted the position of Assistant Manager for Sport Clubs and Intramurals at Boston University, his last day at IC will be this Friday 9/27/13.

Please join us this Thursday 9/26 from 2:00pm-3:30pm in the Taughannock Falls room to say goodbye to Scott, and wish him the best of luck in his new position.  All students, faculty, and staff are welcome.  See you there!

Maura Stephens, associate director of the Park Center for Independent Media, wrote a chapter in the recently published book Policing the Campus: Academic Repression, Surveillance, and the Occupy Movement, edited by Anthony J. Nocella II and David Gabbard and published by Peter Lang. Her chapter, "Higher Ed on a Slippery Slope: Pulling It Back from the Brink," includes suggestions for practical ways in which students, staff, faculty, administrators, and governing boards can protect their colleges and universities from those who would subvert academic freedom, unfettered media, free speech, critical inquiry, and rights to privacy and to dissent.

It is my pleasure to invite faculty applications for the Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 semester of the London Sabbatical Program. Applicants should be eligible for an approved and funded sabbatical from their school covering faculty salary either for the Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 semester. The selected faculty members are expected to teach one course complementary to the London Center curriculum, interact with London Center instructors and students, and attend London Center faculty meetings.
