 Did you know that a $3 donation fills a backpack with nutritious food to feed one child in Tompkins County? Chris Allinger of 103.7 Q Country has embarked on a week long, 100 mile trek across Tompkins County to collect donations for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's Back Pack Program.

Sodexo/Ithaca Dining Services, a proud supporter of The Food Bank of the Southern Tier's Backpack program, would like to welcome Chris to Ithaca College. Starting Wednesday, retail dining locations (Food Court, La Vincita, Grand Central, Tower Club Lounge, CHS Café, Business School Café, and Park School Café) will be accepting donations at the registers. We will continue to accept donations beyond Chris' visit and present a check to The Food Bank of the Southern Tier. 

Show your support and feed a hungry child! Stop by IC Square at 3 PM this Friday to welcome Chris on the final leg of his journey. His destination will be Wegmans at 5 PM.

Draft rubrics for Ithaca Seminar, Quantitative Literacy, Diversity, CLA, and Capstone/Integrative Learning components of the program are available online for viewing and comment.

This Saturday, Sept. 14, School of Music bass faculty member Nicholas Walker will give a free community performance at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts (TCFA). Accompanied by pianist Siu Yan Luk, Walker's program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the conservatory's Clinton B. Ford Auditorium. 

A Trumansburg resident, Walker hopes to spread awareness of the conservatory's final stages of fundraising to help pay for the historic building's much needed repairs.

Faculty Council is seeking to fill two All-College positions on APC.  Both positions require the candidate to be tenured. The APC Policy subcommittee position is a one-year term while the APC Curriculum subcommittee position is a two-year term. Full APC meetings are one Friday per month from 3-5 PM. The subcommittees require one additional meeting per month.

The Gerontology Institute Workshop “Research and Treatment Updates for Alzheimer’s Disease”  will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Country Inn and Suites, 1100 Danby Road, Rte. 96B. (just 5 minutes south of the college.)

Student Health 101

 Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables?!

According to the American College Health Association's National College Health Assessment, only five percent of college students eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day (five or more servings). Eating plenty of these fiber- and nutrient-rich foods can boost your energy, concentration, and overall health.
