Louis V. Spiotti, Sr., a 1939 graduate of IC's School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER), passed away on August 18, 2013. He earned a bachelor of science degree in 1939 and a master of science degree in 1950.

Mr. Spiotti was an engaged and active member of the IC alumni community. He served on the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors from 1968 to 1984 and was a director emeritus from June 2010 until his death.

The Online Course Override Form for fall semester Park courses has been reactivated and is now available on the Park School homepage and at https://aecmws.ithaca.edu/wf/. The deadline to submit requests is Wednesday, September 4th---the last day of the ADD/DROP period.

The positive feedback garnered by the Park Online Course Override Form beta test has provided a model for campus-wide implementation for the November registration period. This is the first in a series of initiatives through the Academic Workflow Implementation Group---a committee assembled collaboratively by the Provost’s Office and ITS consisting of faculty, staff, students, and administrators charged with the task of taking the paper processes associated with academic or Homer related functions and automating these forms.

Thinking of Law School?

“Careers in Law” is the first of three evening workshops for those with an interest in the study and practice of Law.

This session will cover the types of positions lawyers hold and skills successful lawyers hold. It will explore the various types of entities that employ lawyers, what lawyers actually do, and what types of skills lawyers put to use in their positions. There will be an opportunity for students to meet and interact with attorneys in different types of positions and organizations.

At the last Faculty Council meeting, the Council voted to take the next step in developing the idea of Shared Governance on our campus, by unanimously passing a motion to establish and charge a Shared Governance Research Task Force. The President is in support of the Task Force and the process it underlines, so the Council is now seeking nominations for three positions.


If you are interested in this opportunity to potentially reshape the governance structure of the college, please submit a brief statement of interest and any relevant experience to me, by Wednesday, Sept. 4 (rothbart@ithaca.edu). The Faculty Council Executive Committee has been tasked with selecting representatives.

On June 28th, Mail Services began using a cloud based package tracking system and discontinued the previous system that was housed on an Ithaca College server.

After September 28th, that server will be removed from service and the data stored on it will be unavailable. If you have any questions about a package that arrived previous to June 28, 2013, you need to contact the Mail Center at 4-3371.
