Janice Levy, professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies, has been named a Visiting Artist at Wintergreen Performing Arts Festival 2013 (Blue Ridge Mountains, VA). This year’s festival, the theme of which is: “In My Mind’s Eye: Image, imagery and imagination in the arts," will feature several lectures and a workshop conducted by Levy.

The lectures are open to festival participants; the three-day intensive workshop is for a select group of intermediate and advanced photographers interested in photographing life in central Virginia.

Due to the Fourth of July holiday, timecards for the pay period June 17-June 30 must be submitted and approved by 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1.  Any timecards not approved by this time may not be processed for the July 5th paydate.

On Friday, May 3 from 1:30pm to 2:45pm, Sox Sperry, Program Associate at Project Look Sharp hosted a workshop entitled “ELA, Common Core and Critical Thinking: Using Science Fiction and Media Literacy to Teach to the Standards.” This workshop was held in the Ithaca Falls Room, in association with the Pippi to Ripley: The Figure of the Female in Fantasy and Science Fiction conference that took place April 3 & 4 at Ithaca College.

An exhibition of photographs from Saudi Arabia by Janice Levy, professor, Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, will be on display at the Les Yeux du Monde Gallery in Charlottesville, VA through July 16.

The exhibition, which opened on June 12, was part of LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph June 13-15, 2013. The festival featured exhibitions and presentations by: Gregory Crewdson, Richard Misrach, Susan Meiselas and others. Closing reception with gallery talk by Levy will be held on July 16, 2013.
