Members of the Research Support Action Group, working under the "Employer of Choice" goal of the Ithaca Forever strategic plan, will be holding focus groups in February.  Our action group’s objective is to "Increase support for faculty research, collaboration, and innovation."  In terms of "research," we are including scholarship, research, and creative inquiry (SRCI).

Join the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures for their first Brown Bag Lunch on Thursday, February 13, in Business 301 during the noon hour. 

Rachel Paparone (Assistant Professor of French) will talk about her current research on the pastoral in Early Modern travel narratives. How did the first French explorers in North America interpret the landscapes and the people that they encountered? And how can reframing these narratives in terms of the pastoral help us to better understand contemporary attitudes toward nature and the environment?

Established through contributions from staff, faculty, and friends of James J. Whalen, Ithaca College’s 6th president, in honor of his 22 years of service to the College.

This award is granted to eligible staff members in a degree program at Ithaca College. The money can be used to pay for books and defray other educational costs. Candidates for the J.J. Staff Scholar Award must be full-time staff members of the College; matriculated in a degree program; have completed at least 60 credit hours toward an undergraduate degree, or pursuing a graduate-level degree, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Thursday, February 6th, join us in Klingenstein Lounge from 12:00 to 1:00pm for an informal meet and greet with editors at Stillwater Magazine. If you write fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or if you produce visual art, learn how you can submit your work for consideration in Stillwater Magazine's 59th issue. You'll also have an opportunity to browse through out extensive back catalogue.

IES Abroad, one of IC's affiliated study abroad program partners, will be on campus this Wednesday 2/5, 6:00 pm in Friends 207 to offer a special session about funding and financial aid for study abroad.  There will be discussion about financial aid offered by IES Abroad for students going on their programs, but funding opportunities available to students going on other study abroad programs will also be addressed.

Immediately following the Access & Affordability session, Danielle will also offer an IES Abroad Program Overview (Wednesday 2/5, 7:00 pm in Friends 207), for those who wish to learn more about IES Abroad's programs.

On behalf of the London Faculty Sabbatical Review Committee, I am pleased to announce the Ithaca faculty members selected for the 2020-21 academic year.

The Office of International Programs and Extended Studies launched the London Sabbatical Program in 1997 to strengthen the connection between the London Center and home campus faculty. Now in its 23rd year, the program has benefited from the acquisition of a house in Colliers Woods where sabbatical faculty may stay during the course of a semester. Faculty who participate in the sabbatical program serve as a resource to London course instructors and to the OIPES as it collaborates in initiatives to enhance the London experience for Ithaca College students.
