And some students may believe this particular break is a good time to come out to family and friends. Coming out is a highly individual, personal process. Only you can know when and whether it's the right time for you. The basic resources section of the LGBT Center website includes specific resources for you, your family, and friends, about coming out - whether you decide to do so this week, or at any other time of the year that's right for you. The Thanksgiving break resources page includes additional helpful information including how to find the nearest LGBT community center to your home community, national hotline information, and more. (85 words) Janet Galvan, School of Music, Conducts at the Texas Collegiate Women's Choral FestivalContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 11/13/12 Dr. Janet Galvan conducted over 200 women from colleges and universities on Saturday, October 27 at the Texas Collegiate Women's Choral Festival in San Antonio, Texas. The program was called "Still I Rise" and included music by Eleanor Daley, Antonio Vivaldi, Eva Ugalde, Gwyneth Walker, Jim Papoulis, and Rosephanye Powell. Galván rehearsed the women all day and performed a concert that evening. Before the weekend in October, she had sent notes and pronunciation guides to help the women prepare for the day of rehearsals. This was the second time that Dr. Galván has been the conductor for this event.
