The Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) in continuation with their fall Discussion Series; Suffocating Knowledge: Race, Power, Possibilities and in collaboration with Cornell Asian-American Studies Department, hosts a student workshop:

"Why Asian-American Studies Matter?"

Tuesday, October 16th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Clark Lounge, Egbert Hall

"A workshop on the academy and activism to bridge and set the scene for engagement with a new Asian-American Studies minor program at Ithaca College. This interactive workshop will be a space for students with faculty and members of the community to discuss what is currently missing in their Ithaca College curriculum and how they would like to shape the Asian-American Studies program."

Fall Surplus Live Plant Sale

A campus climate survey focusing on diversity and inclusion will open for participation by all faculty, staff and students on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.  The survey will remain open for 2 weeks until November 14th.  All members of the Ithaca College campus community will receive an email invitation to participate in the survey that is administered through the Qualtrics System to ensure the confidentiality of all responses.  The survey will be accessible through a link in the email invitation.

LGBT History Month Continues

 It's that time of year when you need to start thinking about May graduation.  Spring registration will begin next month, and you need to apply for graduation! 

If you plan to graduate in May, you have until November 16th to submit your application for graduation.  This will inform the college how your name should appear on your diploma, and add your name to the Commencement program.

The Committee for College-wide Requirements (CCR) and faculty volunteers for course designation groups are reviewing more than 50 existing courses that have been proposed by faculty for themes and perspectives designations, with additional new and revised courses working their way through school curriculum processes before CCR review. Thanks to the many faculty members across departments and schools who have submitted courses for designation.

Watch out for “phishy” emails.

Spam refers to unsolicited communication, usually in the form of advertisement.
Phishing usually refers to similar communication featuring fraud, usually where the perpetrator attempts to trick people into providing their Social Security numbers, financial accounts and other personal information by pretending to be someone they are not (e.g. banks, retailers, government agencies). These attacks can have a range of targets and a range of delivery methods, but is very often through email.
