Malware (spyware or adware) refers to a variety of software that affect computer performance and user security. They usually exist without your knowledge, or are disguised as other programs, and make your computer act maliciously: some log your keystrokes, some redirect your web traffic, and some can even make your computer attack other computers.

 Imprint Magazine is revitalizing its annual writing contest open to ALL MAJORS at Ithaca College (and writers from other colleges as well)!

Five categories. One month. $100 to the winner of EACH category.

The categories are:

-Politics/News/Essay
-Life & Style/Arts & Entertainment
-Creative Writing
-Film/Documentary
-Photography

You can submit entries anytime starting TODAY until Thursday 11/1/12 at 12 a.m.! Submissions will be judged by a TBD panel of professors and area professionals. Winners will be announced on imprintmagazine.org no later than 11/7/12. Prizes will be distributed before Thanksgiving and ALL entries will be published on IM's site.

The Handwerker Gallery is excited to be hosting "Election Update: Who Will Win, and How Will They Do It?", a salon presentation by Tom Shevory, faculty member in the Department of Politics, taking place on Tuesday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m.. Shevory has published five books and numerous scholarly articles on issues related to law, public policy, and popular culture, with special attention to health and environment.

Juan González has had to postpone his planned visit to Ithaca on Wednesday because of a back injury that is causing him severe pain; his doctors have advised him not to travel. He is getting medical treatment but may be recuperating for some time. We will be in close touch with him and will reschedule as soon as possible, probably early next semester.

Mr. González sends his regrets and best wishes to the Ithaca College and greater communities. He has very kindly arranged for  the producer of the film based on his earlier book Harvest of Empire to send us a copy for screening on campus. We're working to set a date and place for that and will keep you posted.

We know the whole community joins us in wishing him a speedy recovery.
